How to Safely Enjoy Your Candles for the Holidays

The holidays can be a chilly time of year, so it’s especially important to make sure you practice candle safety! Approximately one third of home fires are caused by candles, so make sure you keep some of these tips in mind in order to have a warm, happy holiday season.

If you decide to use open flamed candles, here are four tips that can keep you safe this winter!

  1. Keep candles at least one foot away from something that could catch fire–like curtains or paper products like books and magazines.
  2. 2. Never leave a candle unattended! Try your best to stay in the same room, or at the very least, the same floor of your house as a lit candle. Besides, you want to be close enough to get a whiff of some of those winter scents.
  3. Make sure you keep your candles out of the reaches of both children and pets. Sometimes a little bit of curiosity can be dangerous for everyone!
  4. Last but not least, if you’re worried about keeping an open flame in the house, consider using candle warmers or lanterns for flameless heat! You can get the same ambiance and fragrance without the worries of using normal candles.

With these tips, we can all stay safe this holiday season. If you’re looking for more information on candle usage and safety, but sure to check out our tips on staying safe this winter!
